Peradventure

While Breadington was excpected to return to the dungeon, a last minute consultation he was providing for villagers about the installation of stone countertops kept him away.

Returning to the fun stone cylinder door device, the party decided to explore the side of the contraption that didn't seem to stab anything and discovered, turning 90 degrees, two golden offering bowls in front of a stone dragon idol - and also the apple they had been testing with on their previous excursion. The took the bowls and declined to spin the cylinder any further.

Instead, they backtracked slightly - after taking the time to remove the eyes from the slain basilisk, finding a iron key underneath the creature's harness in the process. The explored east, finding three mysterious egg-shaped stones in a room full of shredded and blood-stained silk pillows. They safely trigger a hallway blade trap, which after the fourth swing completely collapsed from the ceiling onto the ground - followed by what sounded to the party like dozens of malicious creatures giggling and licking their lips as they enjoyed the sound of the collapse.

Unnerved, the party retreated back to the basilisk room. Then, attracked by a strange purple light, the entered the chambers of Xiximanter, the immortal Ogre Lich, millenia into his research on more broadly applicable sources of immortality.

Xiximanter was friendly, offering quite generously from his magic stores if the party were willing to give them their elf, but also seemed somewhat confused - convinced that the temple was in full working order, and that his people ruled all over Krynn.Having learned a few things, including the apparent existence within the tomb of "fungus golbins," an experiment he didn't seem particularly proud of, the party declined to deal with Xiximanter for the moment, and gave him wide berth. Lunethalas seemed espcially irritated by the suggestion that a race may have predated the Elves on Krynn.

Trying east again, and then south-east before the blade-trapped hallway, Kirilov continued his streak of walking directly into traps, as most of the floor of the room broke out from under him, dropping him on some spikes. A rope rescue and a skirt around the edge of the room later, the party discovered the sacrifical pit - with a central everburning flame.

Spotting gems that were certainly of value within the pit, the party prepared Amity - dousing her with water and wrapping a cloth around her nose and mouth before lowering her into the pit to gather the gems with one of the hooked polearms they'd previously looted. The natural gasses within the pit threatened to pull her down into unconsciousness, but Amity proved too doughty and escaped the pit again with further treasure.

Heading south, the party finally met its first of the fungus goblins - a goblin-shaped brown-and-white creature that was somehow both sticky and far too dry, with beady little red eyes too close together on its face. They met in the form of the goblin pushing a broom through a broken stone door into Kirlov's face, insisting that he stay on that side.

Lunethalas, speaking Goblin, managed to excite the creature into thinking he might be the new goblin-king, but did not seem enticed by the prospect. As the goblin ran off to tell all of the others of his find, the party shrugged and approched the iron doors to the south.

Which were locked, but happened to be opened to exactly the key they found earlier on the basilisk. Inside, the party found a TAKHISIS-THEMED EVIL MAGIC SHIELD OF USEFUL DARKNESS and more wealth than the could imagine - almost more wealth than they could load into their bag of holding.

Suddenly wealthy and feeling very experienced, the party retreated from the tomb before the fungus goblins could find them again, seeming to express little interest in returning.
